Homeopathy for lung cancer Update 7 – The Oncologist has responded and published
After much deliberation, the journal “The Oncologist” has finally responded to criticism from ÖAWI, INH, and us regarding the publication of the study on homeopathy for lung cancer and published something about it on September 24, 2024. To anticipate – it is not the retraction of the study we expected, but an insistence on the accuracy of the publication.
The following were published
1. A “correction” in which nothing is actually corrected. The arguments put forward by the ÖAWI, INH, and IWM, which can be verified by anyone interested, are not addressed in concrete terms; instead, the main author's claims, which cannot be verified by the reader, are simply reproduced.
2. An editorial by Susan Bates and pharmacologist William D. Figg. (Susan Bates was the editor who accepted the study). They hope that active ingredients can be isolated from homeopathic preparations and that effective conventional cancer drugs can be developed from them. From this, it can be concluded that the authors are not informed about what homeopathy actually is and that many patients were probably “treated” with drops of ritually shaken water (the original publication, starting on page e1949, does not specify the dilution ratios of the homeopathic remedies used).
Retractionwatch also devoted an article to these two publications, but the title is too optimistic. This website also provides the detailed results of the ÖAWI investigation.
